WORKING PILGRIMAGE TO ANCIENT MUNSTER
Hazard assessment for the period from late 2010 until mid-2014 suggest a hiatus in group research trips to Ireland until 2015. To protect our participants from risk and potential long-term separation from loved ones, we will take the option of lower risk, and perform our work from North America. For more details, see http://www.culturalarchaeology.org
Experience County Limerick... the spiritual heartland of the ancient North Munster kings... and Lough Gur, Grange Hill and Knockfennel with their magical knot of encircling hills - Cnoc Rhua, Cnoc GrŽine, Cnoc çine and Cnoc F’rinne, and Ireland's largest stone circle at Grange Lios.
Forces at work in the landscape made it sacred in the past and live to be rediscovered in the present. Community rituals and harmony with these vital, spiritual forces has been the secret of Ireland's natural balance... and a long-held pledge to keep the countryside whole and healthy.
You can join the next working pilgrimage, help uncover the ancient sacred landscape, chart the old sites, and research the social and ritual network that bound this vast, lake-centred matrix together. Grange Lios and several nearby circles by Lough Gur were built to honour Samhain - but more needs to be understood about their relationship with the Sun and the NE-SW line connecting to Dingle. Help us research clues about the ancient rituals of the Tuath DŽ Danann and their sudden and unexplained disappearance.
Likely side trips include Glenstal Abbey, Limerick City, Tralee and Dingle Penisula with an overnight in the town of Dingle. Optional extras include bodywork and special instructional tours.
Comfortable cottage accommodations with modern self-catering kitchens in the villages of Hebertstown, Grange, Bruff and Bruree (or bed & breakfast in Bruff, if preferred) adjacent to our research. Travel to Ireland from Boston, via Aer Lingus with Irish car rentals by Dooleys.
